Why are Indian wrestlers sitting on strike?

Indian wrestlers sat on a dharna for the first time on 18 January at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

Wrestlers had accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, president of the Wrestling Federation of India, of sexual harassment.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur spoke to the wrestlers and the strike was called off on 21 January.

Brij Bhushan was separated from the working of the wrestling association and a committee was formed to investigate the allegations against him.

By April the inquiry committee released its report, but the report was not made public. In this situation, the wrestlers once again sat on a dharna at Jantar Mantar on 23rd April.

The wrestlers stuck to their demand for Brij Bhushan's arrest and continued their protest.

Wrestlers tried to march during the inauguration of the new parliament building on 28 May. Then the police took the wrestlers into custody.

On May 28, the Delhi Police ended the picketing of the wrestlers and removed their belongings from Jantar Mantar.

Delhi Police said- If the wrestlers break the rules, end the picket, perform at the right place
